Smt-Ratan-Shastri

Smt. Ratan Shastri, founder of the Banasthali University, played a very crucial role in the Indian Freedom Struggle. She supported her husband's, Shri. Hiralal Shastri's endeavor in the fight for Indian independence. It was an act of great courage for a middle-class woman in the state of Rajasthan of that era to give up the trend of veils and jewellery (1929). Setting an ideal in front of other women to follow, and motivating them to act according to it was a great achievement in itself. Thus, even in those difficult days, she was amongst the women activists who did social work in such arduous times.
