Shri Shanti Swarup Daata and his entire family were closely associated with the Indian Freedom Struggle. He undertook special efforts for the freedom struggle by participating in several activities across Delhi, Bengal, Haryana and Alwar. He was jailed for participating in the 'Irresponsible Officers Quit Chair' Movement in the year 1946. The 'Irresponsible Officers Quit Chair' Movement was organized by the Prajamandal. He wrote his autobiography titled 'Smriti ke Vatayan', where he described the experiences encountered by him during the course of Indian freedom struggle.
