The birth place of freedom fighter Shri Azad Goyal, son of Shri Govardhandas Goyal was Jahazpur, Bhilwara. Originally, his name was Mishri Lal, but in 1938 he changed his name to Azad Goyal. In the year 1937, he established 'Bajrang Mandal' and under this institution, he established reading rooms and gymnasiums. In 1938, inspired by Shri Manikya Lal Verma, he went to Ajmer and began to actively participate in the Indian freedom movement. Upon writing 'Praja Mandal ki Jai', he was awarded the punishment of 101 shoe beatings and also threatened with the punishment of forcing him to eat cow meat. He worked in different branches of the Shahpura, Gangapur and Bajrang Mandal. He also established a dispensary. On two occasions, he contested from the Congress party for the elections of the Municipal Council.
