Ambalal-Sharma

Freedom fighter Shri Ambalal Sharma, son of Shri Rawatmal Sharma, attained early education in the Jain Gurukul at Beawar. It was here that the seed of patriotism was ingrained in his person. Inspired by the Marwar Movement of 1942, he became an active participant in the Indian freedom movement. While attaining training in the Pali Mill, with the larger purpose of joining Gandhiji's army, he fled from there and joined the movement along with other revolutionaries at other places. Eventually, he returned to Phalodi and began working prominently in the Quit India Movement led by Shri Ranchod Das Gattani in 1942. He also worked under the leadership of Sumaneshji in the region of Jodhpur. Due to his enthusiastic speech in Phalodi, he was arrested by the government authorities. He began a movement raising the issues pertaining to women in the jail itself.

He also initiated a movement for the cause of women in Phalodi. He was imprisoned for a term of one-year.
