Union Territory of Puducherry, District - Puducherry. Son of Sellane Naicker was the son of Rathinasamy. He was a resident of Periakalapet village. He was the eighth child of his parents. He was born on 9 September 1884. He had his primary and elementary education in the Government School in his native place. In 1898 he joined College Colonial in Puducherry. In 1904, he passed a ‘Baccalaureate Degree’ and Law education 1909. In 1913 he completed the French M.L. Degree from Paris University. He started his career as an Advocate in Puducherry on 22 July 1914. He was the Mayor of Oulgaret Commune of Puducherry from 1928 to 1935. His political influence was from Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas of the peaceful method of agitation. He demanded the complete Independence of French India. He was the President of the Puducherry Merger Committee. In 1954 he supported the Satyagraha Movement in Puducherry. He died at the age of 81, on 11 August 1965. He was given a State Award for his role in the Liberation movement.
