Union Territory of Puducherry, District - Karaikal. Dawud was the son of Pichaigani Sahib. He was born on 26 July 1922. He was a native of Thirunallar village in the Karaikal region. He studied only up to III class in the local school at Karaikal. He took an active role in the liberation campaigns from 1947. He was detained in Central Jail, Karaikal for two months in 1949 on alleged charges of complicity in creating law and order problems in the Karaikal region. He was given a State Award for his role in the Liberation movement.
