Awareness cum facilitation of services at Tehsil Headquarters of District Budgam Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Khag

The Department of Social Welfare which plays an important role in addressing the problems and issues of the weaker sections, downtrodden and the vulnerable sections of society comprising of old aged , physically challenged persons, women and children in distress and other socially and economically weaker sections.Presently, while the UT Administration has taken an initiative to shift to cent percent online mode, it is no less than a challenge for all Departments in general and SWD in particular because the beneficiaries with whom the Department is concerned are mostly illiterate and not updated enough to accommodate and reconcile with the changes/ orders of government.To mobilize such beneficiaries in consonance with the revolutionary step taken by the UT Administration to go fully digital, is a challenging job for the TSWO offices working at the grassroot levels. As a matter of fact, the office is leaving no stone unturned to motivate the beneficiaries on psychological front to co-operate in applying online both fresh/renewal and uploading of documents on the online service portal. Partly due to illiteracy/unawareness and partly due other problems faced by the applicants while applying and uploading documents online, the offices of TSWOs remain overflooded with the beneficiaries seeking assistance for redressal of grievances /checking out of deficiencies. At this revolutionary stage of transition from manual to online mode, the offices at Tehsil level are pacifying the aggrieved people in a professional manner for streamlining the overall online process. Today on 29/03/2023, 79 cases were verified online. Out of the processed cases, 45 cases were forwarded and the remaining cases were reverted back and applicants were informed accordingly using all possible sources for fulfilment of deficiencies at an earliest. Besides, a facilitation center was also set up in the office to help and guide people in availing online services and awareness regarding different online services was imparted to around 125 persons group-wise.
