Prime Minister flags off MV Ganga Vilas: World’s longest river cruise

Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off World’s Longest River Cruise – MV Ganga Vilas via video conferencing on 13th January 2023. He also laid the foundation for several other inland waterways projects during the event. The event aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to boost river cruise tourism in India.
While addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister greeted everyone on the auspicious occasion of Lohri and emphasized the importance of Indian festivals. Speaking on the subject of river cruise tourism, he elaborated on the dual strategy for river Ganga. He explained that the movement to clean Ganga is being carried forward through Namami Gange, and Arth Ganga is playing a crucial part in creating awareness about the same. Through Arth Ganga, actions have been taken to foster a dynamic economic environment in the States through which Ganga traverses.
The Prime Minister greeted everyone making the maiden journey of Ganga Vilas and stressed how India attracts tourists from all across the world to witness the magnificence and uniqueness of its culture.
The Prime Minister was elated to see that the experience of the Ganga Vilas River cruise will have something special for everyone. He continued by saying that people who are seeking spirituality can cover destinations of Majuli, Kashi, Bodh Gaya, etc., and those who wish to seek a multinational cruise experience can visit Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The river cruise will sail through 25 different river streams and shall provide a golden opportunity to those who want to understand the river system of India. Through this river cruise, one can explore diverse cuisines and the culinary magnificence of the country. He said, “One can witness the extraordinary amalgamation of the heritage of India and its modernity on this cruise”.
