Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters

Dr. Chote Lal Modi was a freedom fighter and son of the late Late Tarini Prasad Modi. He belonged originally to Court Road, Old Nagar Nigam Chaurasia Hospital, Deogarh, Jharkhand and his date of birth is 1920. His wife's name was Parwati Devi. He had contributed to 1942, Quit India Movement. He was a true follower of Gandhiji and followed the path of truth similar to that of Gandhiji. He was also very much influenced by Subash Chandra Bose's ideology and he met him at Ramgarh in 1940. He was also one of the chief freedom fighters from Deogarh amongst all other freedom fighters like Praful Chandra Patnayak, Krishna Prasad Shah, and Baleshwar Prasad Singh. In political life, he had been associated with Jayaprakash Narayan and former Chief Minister of Bihar. The cooperation of Vinodanand Jha continued to be with him. He was in charge of the relief committee in Deoghar, due to which he established direct contact with Jayaprakash Narayan. For this contribution to independence, he received a copper plate from Prime Minister Lt. Indira Gandhi on 15 August 1972. He died on 31 October 2009.
