He was born in 1920 in village Sur Wind, Punjab. His parents Jawand Singh and Basant Kaur were peasants. In 1939 he had gone to Burma in search of a job where two years later he joined the Azad Hind Fauj in 1943. Same year he died at the Burma Front.
