He was a resident of Punjab and a sepoy in the 5/11 Sikh Regiment of the British which surrendered to the Japanese in Singapore. He joined the Azad Hind Fauj in the I Guerrilla Regiment. He was posted in Burma where he was killed at Arakan in 1945.
