He belonged to village Dharawar in district Ludhiana in Punjab. Before joining as a Major in the I Bahadur Group for Azad Hind Fauj, He was a Lieutenant in the British Indian Army. He carried on intelligence worked in Burma sector and captured by the British. He was tried in Red Fort as enemy agent where he died in military captivity in 1945.
