Abinash Chandra Bhattaharya

Abinash Chandra Bhattaharya was born on 1882 at village Arbelia. His father’s name was Umesh Chandra Bhattacharya. Amongst the revolutionary colleagues he was known as Abhida. Probably this prompted the poet to include the most popular folk song “Abhiramer Dwip Chalanma, Khudiramer fansi”. He was deported to the Andamans in the early decade of twentieth century and was repatriated in 1914 to Rawalpindi jail. He was release in 1915. After release he joined Kolkata Municipal Gazette. He authored many books in Bengali, Rananiti, Mukte Konpathe etc.
