Ram Bahor Tiwari

Amethi (Chatrapati Sahuji Mahraj Nagar), Uttar Pradesh

May 07, 2024 to May 07, 2026

Ram Bahor Tiwari was born in the village of Muhiuddenpur, in the post of Raniganj, Deokali, tehsil musafirkhana, Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh. His father Ram Udit Tiwari, nurtured him in his early years, providing him with primary education in their native land. However, he felt a calling to serve his motherland, Bharat and thus began his journey towards contributing to the freedom struggle.

Inspired by the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, Ram Bahor Tiwari was drawn to the Quit India Movement. In the historic Bombay session on 8 August 1942, under Gandhi ji's leadership, the resolution for the Quit India Movement was passed, echoing the slogan "Karo Ya Maro." He actively participated in this movement, rallying villagers and encouraging them to join in the fight for independence. Despite facing multiple arrests and enduring the cruelty of British officers, his resolve remained unshaken.

After his release from Naini jail, Ram Bahor continued his revolutionary activities, becoming involved with the Indian National Congress, where he worked under the guidance of eminent leaders for the nation's cause. His dedication to the nation extended to joining the Indian National Army (INA) under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the freedom movement, Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi honoured him with a Tamra Patra on behalf of the nation in 1972.

Ram Bahor Tiwari passed away at his residence in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh.
