Chandanmal Banvat was born on 26 January 1921 in Kheechan village, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan. His father was Seth Phoolchand Ji Banvat. A very intelligent student in his childhood, Banvat ji participated in the Jail Bharo movement initiated by the Biaora, Ajmer, Mewar, and Marwar State Lok Parishad in Rajasthan, during which he was imprisoned. During the Quit India Movement of 1942, he organized meetings against the British colonial rule and distributed anti-colonial posters and banners with his colleagues, leading to his arrest. He served imprisonment terms in the Ashta and Sehore jails before being transferred to the Bhopal Central Jail.
After his release, Banvat ji made Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh his primary work area. Beyond his role as a freedom fighter, he was also an MLA, poet, writer, journalist, and musician. In the year 1997, he was honoured by the Governor at Ravindra Bhawan by the "Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti" of Madhya Pradesh. He served as an executive member of the Madhya Pradesh National Language Promotion Committee and was President of the National Language Promotion Committee of Sehore district. Banwat edited the "Jhalak" fortnightly magazine in Rajasthan and "Jain Prakash" in Mumbai, contributing significantly to the literary and cultural landscape of his time.
