Lalmohan Sen(1912- 1946), son of Sandip Sen, was born in the Muchhapur village of Chattagram in undivided Bengal. Nothing is known about his early life and education except that his father was a businessman. It disproves the oft-repeated point in the literature about the lower middle-class origin of the Chattagram revolution.
On the fateful day of the Chattagram Uprising (18 April 1930), he was given the overall charge of overthrowing the railway tracks to isolate Chattagram from the rest of the country. Lalmohan and the group under him accomplished the job and then joined the rest. After the Jalalabad war on 22 April, Lalmohan managed to escape with others.
He was arrested in Calcutta in the same year and sent to the Chattagram Jail to face trial by the Special Tribunal, which sentenced him to transmigration for life with rigorous imprisonment. Released in 1946, after sixteen years of imprisonment in different jails, he settled in his native village in Noakhali. But, this great hero of many revolutionary encounters was stabbed to death by the communally frenzied goons, while he was trying to stop the fratricidal conflict during the Noakhali riot.
