Eat Right Millets Mela was organized at the Kochi Municipal Corporation town hall on 04th May’23 by the Food and Drugs Administration of Kerala with support from the FSSAI Southern Regional office, to raise awareness about millets and their health benefits and to showcase India’s diversity in millets production recipes cuisines and value-added products. The event was inaugurated by Mr M Anil Kumar, Mayor Kochi.
A walkathon was also organised to create awareness about millets as a healthy and nutritious food option. The Mela witnessed a demonstration of various types of millets their nutritional value, value-added products from millets and how they can be incorporated into everyday meals. Millet-based dishes were available at multiple stalls for people to savour and enjoy.
Various programs such as expert talks, poster competition, cooking contests, quizzes were organized to raise mass awareness around millets among people of all age groups. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 2500 individuals from all walks of life.
