Logo of National Youth Festival 2022 unveiled in Puducherry

The logo for the National Youth Festival-2022 to be held in Pondicherry from the 12th to the 16th was unveiled in Pondicherry today. Puducherry Union Territory Lt. Governor.Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan unveiled the logo in the presence of the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Welfare and Sports, Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur.The festival begins at the Pondicherry University on January 12 which marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that it was a historic moment for us that the Prime Minister had chosen Puducherry to host this year's National Youth Festival. He said the National Youth Day would be held here as the country celebrates 75 years of independence.

Pointing out that the celebrations of Swami Vivekananda's birthday, the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo, the centenary of late Mahakavi Bharathiar, coincide with this national festival, the Minister said it would also be a ceremony to introduce the youth to the freedom fighters unknown to the outside world. He said that thousands of talented youth from across the country would be attending the festival to showcase their talents and for them the festival would be an unforgettable moment in their lives.

The Minister said that the cultural festival to be held here will be attended by youth from different parts of the country, adding that the country can only progress if the youth are talented and strong and the time has come to use their energy. He said he was here to see the preparations for the event.

The Minister said that all arrangements have been made by the Government of Pondicherry and the Deputy Governor to make the function a success and that the Central Government is ready to provide any assistance required in this regard.

The Minister said that the world was watching India in the 21st century and the role of the youth was crucial in proving their talent and worth, adding that no event could be successful without the local people and asked everyone to attend.

The event was attended by the Chief Minister of Pondicherry Mr. N. Rangasamy, the Minister of Education Mr. Namachchivayam and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Mr. Ambalam Selvam.

Earlier, Minister Anurag Singh Thakur visited and inspected the University of Pondicherry where the ceremony will be held. The Minister held consultations with the Vice Chancellor and senior officials of the University of Pondicherry.
