Programme Details of ‘NATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL 2022’

National Youth Day

January 12, 2022 to January 16, 2022

BACKGROUND

National Youth Festival is organized by the Government of India every year in collaboration with one of the States willing to host from January 12th to 16th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda i.e. 12th January. The basic objective of the NYF is to bring the youth of the country together in an attempt to showcase their talents in various activities to cover almost all socio-cultural aspects of life, providing an opportunity to amateur young artists to express themselves and interact with fellow artists and to further learn the new art forms from experts of various disciplines.

HOST STATE

24 National Youth Festivals have been held so far. The 25th National Youth Festival is going to be Organised from 12th to 16th January 2022 in Puducherry.

PARTICIPANTS

Participation of 7500 youth has been planned for the occasion of India@75: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

EVENTS

Opening and Closing ceremony:

The festival will be inaugurated on 12th January 2022 where all the State contingents will participate in the format decided by the host State/ UT Government. The closing ceremony will be organized on 16th January 2022.

Phase wise activities to be Organised during the entire duration of the Festival:

The activities to be organised during 25th NYF 2022 have been divided into 4 phases as under:

i) Phase 1: Mindful Mornings (06:00 Hours to 08:30 Hours)

The youth will be provided with an opportunity to attend Meditation & Yoga Workshops with a view to inculcate and promote healthy habits in them. The following activities will be organized during this phase:

  1. Yoga Sessions
  2. Meditation
  3. Clean-Up Sessions | Volunteering Drives

ii) Phase 2: Youth Summit (10:30 Hours to 14:30 Hours)

In this session, the participating youth will get an opportunity to learn through the keynote address of eminent persons and also to express their views on the day-wise topics identified on concurrent global issues which are as under:

  1. National Values, History and Mindfulness National Character Building
  2. Future Skills, Technology and Entrepreneurship Global Superpower
  3. Indigenous Wisdom, Knowledge-Economy Building to establish material value Traditional Futures
  4. Social Innovation and Sustainable Development Led Growth Just and Equitable Economy

iii) Phase 3: Indigenous Sport Awareness (16:00 Hours to 17:30 Hours)

The participating youth will participate in Indigenous Games and Martial Arts (IGMA) such as:

  • Kalaripayatu from Kerala
  • Silambam from Tamil Nadu
  • Kabaddi from Telengana
  • Archery from Jharkhand
  • Malkhamb from Maharashtra
  • Mukna and Thangta from Imphal
  • Khomlainai from Assam
  • Gatka from Punjab

This list is inclusive but not exhaustive.

iv) Phase 4: Cultural Celebrations (18:30 Hours to 20:30 Hours)

In this phase of the day, there will be culture-based programmes. These cultural programmes will include events from different parts of India such as Nati Dance, Kariyala (Folk Theatre), Cham Dance etc.

In addition, various Programmes will be organized each day of the festival showcasing the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo in order to make all the participants aware of his contribution towards India’s Freedom Movement and also with his literary works.

All the states have also been requested to organize competitions at District/State level to select participants who would be performing in various events on the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo during the National Youth Festival.
