A Unique initiative from Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Education and CBSE to encourage the spirit of nationalism and gratitude towards our war heroes and brave hearts in the run up to Republic Day Celebrations 2022.
To inspire and create a new generation of Children/Youngsters who will learn from the brave exploits of our gallantry award winners, to usher in values of self-discipline, service and sacrifice while serving the nation as proud citizens.
Republic Day 2022 is special in many ways as it falls in the 75th Year of India’s Independence. As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, many new events have been introduced as part of Republic Day celebrations.
The endeavour has been to make it truly a celebration of people by encouraging their participation from all walks of life. Also create / rekindle a spirit of nationalism and patriotism in them in the run up to the R-Day events.
Veer Gatha is one such unique project that has been launched to inspire the school children of our country with the stories of war heroes, brave hearts, and it has elicited a tremendous response from all over the country.
For the first time as part of R-Day celebrations, the Ministry of Defence has envisioned that School students may be motivated to do projects/activities based on gallantry award winners.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy & CBSE organized the Veer Gatha Project from 21 Oct to 21 Nov 2021 all across the country.
More than 8,03,900 students from 4788 schools spread over 28 States & 8 Union Territories participated in this event and shared their inspirational stories in terms of essays, poems and drawings. After several rounds of evaluation, on 06 Jan 2022 'Super 25' have been selected and declared as winners.
