Training programme for PRI's on ‘Healthy Village at Manigam

Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir

November 24, 2022

‘Healthy Village

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (World Health Organization). Sickness not only stops people from working, but also depletes resources owing to medical expenses, hospital expenses, and loss of employment. Maintaining and safeguarding the health of the community will ensure the success of all Gram Panchayat programs and will pay off in the long run. All three tiers of PRIs have roles and the potential of contributing to good health and well-being for people of all ages. From basic health care through Sub-centres, to PHCs, and Taluk hospitals, establishing Patient Welfare Societies, effective functioning of VHSNC, creating support institutions and mechanisms for individuals and families needing direct health-related assistance or indirect support to enable them to access and address their health issues, establish preventive and early intervention mechanisms in joint working with Health Department and Department for Differently Abled, WCD, RD, etc. ‘Healthy Village’ is an inter-sectoral theme. This theme has several sub-themes as well. These subthemes are referred to here as targets for GPs. Rather than straight away dealing with SDG targets for GPs related to ‘Healthy Village’, Panchayats are first given a basic introduction to Healthy Village, the role of GPs in achieving Healthy Village, and the relevance of SDGs for Healthy Village.

Training Objectives Promoting ‘Healthy Village’ is the overall training objective. The specific training objectives are given below: • Promote the concept of Good Health and its aspects. • Orient on the role of health in SDG. • Improving the efficiency of health education and Prevention and Curative measures. • Understanding the health care system and reducing inequalities in access to health services. • Planning for Healthy Village
