Paddy cultivation training to local farmers at NTPC Farakka

To commemorate the 75th independence anniversary of our nation, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NTPC Farakka resolved to facilitate skill training programs for the local population under its CSR initiatives. NTPC Farakka initiated on 28.11.2022 a 10-day rice cultivation training in Tildanga, Farakka, West Bengal for the benefit of villagers as Action of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The staple crop cultivated in and around Farakka is mostly rice. Hence, it was decided to provide training on the latest scientific ways of rice cultivation to about 20 marginal, small & medium land holding farmers from Tildanga, Farakka, for 10 days and subsequently provide them with season appropriate rice seeds to be sown in the Rabi season that ends in December. The training program being conducted by a PhD scholar in Agriculture with expert guidance from the Asst. Director of Agriculture, Farakka BDO.
This initiative is one of the many efforts down the pipeline to systematically approach skill development with periodic review of the intervention and generate positive socio-economic outcome.
The inauguration program was conducted on 28.11.2022 in the presence of Shri Nikesh Kumar, Dy. General Manager (HR), NTPC Farakka. His knowledge on farming sectors in India and clear communications with the farmers motivated the participants as well as the implementing agency to dedicatedly take part in the training program and also to implement the methods in cultivation by farmers. The program was inaugurated in a gathering of about 75 nos. consisting of NTPC employees, villagers and Associate staff.
