‘Indian National Calendar’, is a scientific expression of India’s identity and was adopted constitutionally by our parliament in 1957. This was an obvious gesture of restoring our identity soon after gaining the independence. However, it has remained unnoticed in the people’s psyche, regrettably.
On occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Vijnana Bharati in association with Ministry of Culture, Department of Science and Technology, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Earth Sciences and many other scientific organisations like IUCAA, IIA, Vikram University Ujjain, IIT Indore, etc., and social scientific organisations like Rashtriya Dindarshika Prachar Manch, etc. wishes to celebrate this development at National level.
For this purpose, Two-Day Conference and Exhibition on the National Calendar of India has been scheduled on Vaisakh 2 & 3, 1944 (April 22-23, 2022) at Ujjain and Dongla (a place on the tropic of Cancer).
To promote and popularise the conference we have scheduled six curtain-raisers of this event on i) Chaitra 01, 1944 (22 March 2022) at CSIR-NPL, New Delhi; ii) Chaitra 08, 1944 (29 March 2022) at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru; iii) Chaitra 15, 1944 (05 April 2022) at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata; iv) Chaitra 16, 1944 (06 April 2022) at Guwahati; and v) Chaitra 20, 1944 (10 April 2022) at Central University of Jammu, Jammu; and vi) Chaitra 16, 1944 (11 April 2022) at University of Mumbai, Mumbai.
Chaitra 01, 1944 (22 March 2022) is marked as the start of New Year. The first curtain raiser and celebration of New Year is scheduled at NPL, New Delhi. Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism of India & Culture (GoI) will be the chief guest of the function along with Shri Govind Mohan (IAS), Secretary, Ministry of Culture; Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology; Dr. R. Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences; Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR; Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will grace the occasion.
These curtain raisers will make young generation well aware about the Indian National Calendar. We have opened online registrations for participation in this event on the website created for this event on http://bharatcalendar.in. Selected participants will be given an opportunity to join the conference at Ujjain. An Expo related to the same, lectures, panel discussion and observation sessions will be the part of this conference.
