An awareness camp was organised by the field staff of the Horticulture Department Ramban in the panchayat Sarbajni A. During the camp, the progressive orchardists were made aware of the various schemes being implemented by the Horticulture department to achieve the goal of doubling the income of the farming community. The participants were advised that doubling of income can be achieved by increasing the production and productivity of quality fruit crops. They were motivated to avail the benefits of plantation schemes like High-Density Plantation, Modified High-density plantation which can increase the production of fruit crops significantly per unit area. They were also told about that quality of the fruit crop can only be improved by proper up-keep and maintenance of fruit trees by following the calendar of operations suggested by the Horticulture department. They have also been guided to avail the benefit of various components viz., Protected Cultivation, Organic Farming, Mechanization, Creation of water sources, irrigation systems, Custom hiring centres, tools and implements and Micro food processing units at 50% assistance under different schemes viz; MIDH, CAPEX (District/ UT), PMDP, PMKSY, RKVY, PMFME, AIF. They were advised that any interested farmer/ orchardist can apply for availing benefits under different schemes of the Horticulture Department either online through the Horticulture app or by visiting the office of the concerned Horticulture Development Officer.
