Ambassador of India to japan H.E. Shri Sibi George met Mr.Sugino Tsuyoshi, President, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and discussed areas of collaboration in the field of Research and Exchanges between the Scientific fraternity of India and Japan. Indo-Japan S&T cooperation was formalized through Inter-Governmental Agreement signed in 1985 between Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Government of Japan. The bilateral S&T Cooperation also has institutional framework with different Japanese Government Agencies involving value-based partnership on the principles of 'reciprocity and co-funding'. MEXT sponsored Inter-University Exchange Project (India) in collaboration with JSPS & 6 Japanese Universities which was started in year 2014 (02 universities added in 2017) connects Indian & Japanese universities and companies with the goal of promoting and furthering exchange activities between India and Japan.
