Celebrating Science and Culture

Kalanjali: an offering of art at Kartavya Path

Indraprastha Vigyan Bharati in association with the Ministry of Culture is organizing a four-day Public Outreach Program to celebrate the amalgamation of Science and Culture, KALANJALI on the theme of “Contributions of Scientists and Scientific Institutions to India’s Freedom Struggle” “भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में वैज्ञानिकों और वैज्ञानिक संस्थानों का योगदान”.

The date for the events are 15-16 July 2023 (Saturday, Sunday) and 22-23 July 2023 (Saturday, Sunday) from 6.00PM-9.00 PM at the Kartavya Path, India Gate Lawns, New Delhi

Nearly 25,000 participants will attend the program physically spread across four days. The programme will be Live streamed on various Social sites, through free and public platform like YouTube, Facebook etc).

The program will consist of Film Screenings on the life and works of Scientists like Prafulla Chandra Ray, Mokshgundam Visvesaraya, Meghnad Saha and Radhanath Sikdar. Also displyade will be an Exhibition on the Contributions of Science and Scientists to Freedom Movement and also Profiles of Great Scientists of India.

Various Events have been designed to involve member of every age and society, school and college students, scientists and general public. There are Painting competitions, Quizzes and Vigyan Kavi Sammelan.

An interesting event of this festival is the Dress like a Scientist competition, wherein the kids will come dressed up as one of the great scientist of India. The event has received good response from public, with kids excited to showcase their skills.

Another major event is the Hands On Workshop on Science of Lekhan Parampara, to teach the participants how the languages of India developed with time. The participants will be taught on how to read and write in languages like Brahmi script used during the Mauryan Empire.

All the four days will have Nukkad Natak performances by School students and teachers group and also the exciting event of Night Skywatch through Telescope. There will be scintillating cultural performances from team of students. Each event has many categories and exciting Prizes and Gifts for participants and winners.
