Under the program of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan was conducted at Sarband, Harwan by the Rural Development Department in connection with Meri Mati, Mera Desh. In this regard, the chief guest was: District Collector Srinagar. In addition, the line department Officers and the representatives, Panchayati Raj Institutions, DDC Chairperson / Vice-Chairperson, BDC chairman, and the general public also participated in the event. With regard to the event, the welcome address was delivered by the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Srinagar. After that, the worthy District Collector was requested to come on the stage and speak a few lines.
In his address, he talked about the importance of Jan Baghidhari in the Swachata Hi Seva Campaign. He said that when India is celebrating the golden glory of 75 th years of Independence, the maximum participation of people is needed to fulfill the essence of Meri Maati , Mera Desh. He impressed upon the Panchayati Raj Institutions to act like a bridge that connects people with the Government and gives positive feedback about reforms needed accordingly. He added that cleanliness needs to become a habit in the minds of the society where women can play an important role by segregating the dry and wet waste from households separately.
After the address by the guest, the school students also shared their ideas on how they can contribute towards positive reforms in society regarding cleanliness which was also the dream of the greatest freedom fighter of India – Shri.Mahatma Gandhi. The event concluded with the Swatchta Anthem and at the end the singing of the National Anthem with lots of enthusiasm by all the participants. More than 79 people were among all who were present at the mega event.
