Amrit Kalash Yatra commemorated Martyrs at Marmat Higher Secondary school Goha

Jammu & Kashmir

October 13, 2023

Under the banner of the "Meri Maati-Mera Desh" campaign, the district administration in Doda, led by District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, organized the Amrit Kalash Yatra at the Government Higher Secondary School Goha (Marmat). The event was graced by the presence of Idress Lone (JKAS), Deputy Director of Employment, District Employment and Counseling Centre Doda, who served as the chief guest. This yatra is a prestigious initiative launched by the Union Home Minister of India to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
As part of the second phase of the "Meri Maati-Mera Desh" campaign in the district, the public from each community was encouraged to participate in Amrit Kalash Yatras. They collected soil from their respective villages, placing it in Amrit Kalash (urns) and sending it to the block offices from October 1st to 13th. These Amrit Kalash will subsequently journey to the District Headquarters, leading up to a grand event planned for October 22, 2023, when all the Amrit Kalash from various blocks will converge in Doda. Subsequently, they will travel to the capital city of Jammu before being transported to the national capital, Delhi, from October 22 to 27.
During the Kalash Yatra, Tehsildar Marmat, BDO Marmat, Sarpanches, and Panches, a significant number of students, officers, and officials, were present. The colorful, soil-filled Kalash urns, collected from diverse regions, were prominently displayed during the event. The program garnered participation from the Block Development Officer of Marmaat, sarpanchs, panches, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, and students.
