Sangli, Maharashtra

May 22, 2023 to May 22, 2024

Keshav Shrinav Kulkarni was a freedom fighter from Umadi Village in Jath Taluka, Sangli District. He actively participated in the Indian independence movement, particularly during the civil disobedience movement.

Kulkarni served as a member of the Solapur Taluka Congress Committee, attending public meetings to raise awareness about the freedom struggle. He engaged in various activities associated with the civil disobedience movement. In December 1932, Kulkarni declared himself the dictator of the Solapur Taluka Congress Committee, leading to his arrest and a two-year sentence of rigorous imprisonment under section 17(1) of the criminal law amendment act. Despite his punishment, Kulkarni remained dedicated to the Indian independence movement. His actions inspired others to join the struggle, particularly individuals from small villages like Umadi.

Kulkarni's contribution to the freedom movement reflects the determined spirit of the Indian people in their quest for independence from colonial rule
