Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters

He was born on Diwali eve in the year 1908 at Hardoi. For higher education, he joined DAV College Kanpur, where he and his close friend Shiv Verma joined Hindustan Republican Association/ Army. Bhagat Singh used to stay in their hostel room at Kanpur. Jaidev Kapoor has helped Bhagat Singh in visiting Central Assembly at Delhi before throwing a bomb there. One of his relatives, Dilip Kapoor an official helped him get the entry pass to Central Assembly Delhi and after Bhagat Singh and Dutt entered, he returned with passes and destroyed them. Bhagat Singh left his new shoes and a watch of Sachindernath Sanyal with him while going to Central Assembly. He preserved those all his life. He also collected photographs of Bhagat Singh and BK Dutt from Ramnath, a photographer at Kashmere gate, which was later published in media. He spent seventeen years in jail and was released only in 1946. He observed hunger strikes in Lahore as well as in Andamans jails and suffered the punishment of lashing. He died on 19 September 1994.
