The name of Noor Hussain Malik inscribed on the Homfraygunj Martyrs Memorial

Noor Hussain Malik was deported on transportation from Rampur of the United Province. He lived at North Bay in South Andaman. He was employed in Police Force during the Japanese occupation. He came under influence of his Father-in-law Khan Saheb Nawab Ali and became a member of the Indian Independence League (IIL) in April 1942. He was arrested during the first week of January 1944 and interned in the Cellular Jail. During his imprisonment, he received inhuman and barbaric torture. On 30 January 1944, he was shot dead by the Japanese squad and buried in an ‘L’ shaped mass grave with 43 others in a row at Homfraygunj in South Andaman. A memorial ‘Balidan Vedi’ has been erected in memory of them at the spot where they got martyrdom.
