Moti Ram, son of Babu Ram, a descendant of a freedom fighter of the First War of Independence 1857, was a resident of Aberdeen, Port Blair. He was born on 16 November 1895. He was the first to graduate from Rangoon in Burma. He later served as a high school teacher. He joined the Indian Independence League (IIL) in 1942. He was a regular speaker of the IIL. During the mass arrest of the IIL members, he was also arrested in 1943. He had to face brutal torture in jail. He was released on 19 November 1943 after administering a poisonous injection by the Japanese and as result, he died right after he reached home.
