Ram Sanehi Mishra

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

April 24, 2024 to April 24, 2026

Ram Sanehi Mishra was born in 1925 in Udaipur village, Kanpur Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. He  was instilled with patriotism from an early age. His father, Late Shri Sewadeen, laid the foundation of his education in their native land. Driven by a fervent desire to serve his motherland, Ram Sanehi Mishra rallied the villagers, urging them to join the freedom movement.

Deeply influenced by the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and VinobaBhave, Mishra actively participated in the "Individual Movement" of 1940, tirelessly working towards India's liberation. However, his unwavering commitment led to his arrest in 1941, resulting in a two-month-and-ten-day imprisonment initially in Kanpur jail and later in Unnao jail.

The watershed moment of 8 August 1942, marked by Gandhi's clarion call for the Quit India Movement, saw Mishra fervently rallying others with the iconic slogan "Karo Ya Maro." His dedication led to another arrest, this time enduring six months of harsh confinement, shuttling between Kanpur and Hamirpur jails, and enduring the cruelty of British oppression.

Even after his release, Mishra continued his revolutionary activities, steadfast in his resolve to serve his nation.

Ram Sanehi Mishra passed away on April 29, 2013, at his residence in Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
