Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive held from 17th September 2022 to 1st October 2022, the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
  • Country-wide observance of Mega Blood Donation Drive from 17th September to 1st October 2022 (National Voluntary Blood Donation Day).
  • Free Blood group testing facilities were provided during the above-mentioned campaign and days.
  • Facility for registration of voluntary blood donors enabled on Aarogya Setu App.
  • The e-RaktKosh web portal was earmarked to serve as the interface for Blood Centres/Blood Banks/Blood donation camps and voluntary donors and related data management.
  • Continuation of Blood Donation Activities till 1-10-2022
  • Achieved maximum Blood unit collection in one day from voluntary non-remunerated blood donors on 17th September 2022 (more than 1.68 lakh units).
  • The purpose was to increase awareness about the need for regular non-remunerated voluntary blood donations and develop a repository of voluntary donors.
  • The fortnight provided an opportunity for social mobilization and social cohesiveness for the noble cause of blood donation.
  • “The purpose behind the campaign launch is to increase awareness about the need for regular non - remunerated voluntary blood opportunities for social mobilization and social cohesiveness for the noble cause of blood donation. To ensure that blood/components (whole blood /packed red cells//plasma/platelets) are available, accessible, affordable and safe,” said the health ministry in a statement.
