India’s artificial supercomputer ‘AIRAWAT’ ranked 75th in the world

The artificial supercomputer ‘AIRAWAT’ installed at the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Pune has been ranked 75th in the world. The computer was included in the 61st edition of the Top 500 Global Supercomputing list announced at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC 2023) in Germany.

Applauding India’s efforts, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary Shri Alkesh Sharma said that AI is the most promising technology of our age. India has an advantage in the AI landscape due to its large data availability, skilled workforce, and strong digital economy. He added that India will continue to explore new aspects of AI technology that will empower citizens and organizations to solve problems of the society and economy.

Several eminent personalities such as Additional Secretary, MeitY, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar; Scientist Ms. Kavita Bhatia and Ms. Sunita Verma praised the efforts of C-DAC Pune and highlighted it as the pioneer in AI computing since its inception. Such achievements in the AI sector shall boost the vision envisaged under the National Program on AI (NPAI).
