Over 100 Crore people participated in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign

‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign became a Jan Andolan with over 109 Crore people participating and contributing towards ‘Swachh Bharat’. The 18-day campaign started from 15th September till 2nd October 2023. Almost 6 crore people participated in the campaign per day, taking the tally to over 100 crores.
To make this event a huge success, citizens enthusiastically participated along with Lieutenant Governors, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, officials of the national and State Governments, and members of the Armed Forces.
These collected efforts resulted in a significant change. Nearly 7,611 beaches were cleaned, 6,371 riverbanks and waterfronts were revitalized, over 15,576 waste sites were reclaimed, 3,620 tourist and landmark locations were improved, and over 1,23,840 public places were restored as a result of these efforts.
In addition, around 66,779 garbage-vulnerable locations have been cleansed, over 16,000 water bodies have been purified, and over 87,000 institutional buildings have been revitalized. These figures demonstrate people’s unwavering commitment to quickly reshape the country.
