The Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse in Surat, Gujarat on 17th December 2023. He also inaugurated the new International Terminal building at Surat Airport and said that a new gem has been added to the splendour of Surat City.
The Surat Diamond Bourse is built to become the largest and most advanced hub worldwide for international diamond and jewellery commerce. Serving as a global focal point for the exchange of both uncut and polished diamonds, as well as jewellery, the Bourse will feature cutting-edge facilities such as a state-of-the-art 'Customs Clearance House' for seamless import and export. The Bourse also possesses a jewellery mall catering to retail jewellery businesses, and a dedicated space for international banking services and secure vaults.
The Prime Minister extended his wishes to the entire Surat Diamond Bourse team on this significant occasion. He expressed confidence that the Surat Diamond Bourse would now be prominently featured in global discussions about diamonds, becoming a source of pride for India. Surat Diamond Bourse showcases the talents of Indian designers, materials, and concepts, symbolizing the capabilities and resolutions of New India. The Prime Minister praised the architecture of the Diamond Bourse highlighting the environmentally friendly Green Building as a potential model for global recognition.
